Embrace Lighter Beers This Summer
The time is finally here to kick back with a cold one outside, but what is the best beer for a hot day?
Too many “light” will be reminiscent of American favourites like Bud Light and Coors light, however when looking for craft options, light actually refers to beers with an ABV of around 3.5% to 4.4% – aka your session beers. These are crowd favourites for slow sipping and great flavours, a perfect way to cool off when it gets warmer – don’t confuse them with your average store-bought light lagers!
Some great light beers to look for are session IPAs, sours, and lagers. A lower ABV will allow you to enjoy the flavours of these craft delights and potentially have a few more of them than options with higher ABVs.
Personal favourites of ours here at UK Craft Beers are Hopfest from Mad Squirrel and Lock 81’s session IPA. Hopfest boasts Citra, Centennial and Chinook hops for a “pure rave of citrus refreshment” and Lock 81’s session IPA features dry-hopped Galaxy and Citra hops for a bitter, hazy take of a session beer. English craft beer is best enjoyed on a hot day, so try our favourites out for the ultimate summer beer combo.
